How Physician-Supervised Telehealth Medical Weight Loss Works

TrimDoc care is delivered entirely through telehealth — from your first appointment through ongoing follow-up. This page walks through the full model, step by step, so you know what to expect before you book. It is educational information, not medical advice.

The Care Model, End to End

  1. Book an appointment. Choose an available telehealth time through Vagaro — no payment is required to see availability. Once you pick a time, Vagaro asks you to sign in or create a free account to hold the slot.
  2. Complete your evaluation. Meet with a licensed provider by video. They review your health history, current medications, and goals.
  3. Receive a clinical determination. Your provider decides what, if any, treatment is clinically appropriate — this decision happens after your evaluation, not before it. See Who May Be Eligible for GLP-1 Therapy for more on how that determination works.
  4. Pay your consultation fee. A one-time $32 fee, paid securely online.
  5. Prescription sent, if appropriate. If your provider determines medication is appropriate, it is sent electronically to a licensed pharmacy, which contacts you directly to fulfill and bill for it.
  6. Ongoing follow-up. Continued visits let your provider monitor your response, review side effects, and adjust your plan as needed.
  7. Membership for eligible patients. Patients approved for ongoing care may enroll in the $74/month membership, which covers follow-up visits, secure messaging, and dose management support.

What a Telehealth Visit Actually Looks Like

Appointments happen over secure video at your scheduled time. Your provider will ask about your health history, current medications, prior weight-management attempts, and your goals. This is a real clinical conversation, not a form you fill out for an automatic result — your provider is actively evaluating your specific situation.

Between Visits: Staying Connected to Your Care Team

Ongoing membership includes secure messaging with your care team, so questions that come up between scheduled visits don't have to wait for your next appointment. Your provider decides what level of contact is appropriate for your treatment plan.

How Prescriptions and Pharmacy Fulfillment Work

If your provider determines medication is appropriate, the prescription is sent electronically to a licensed pharmacy. TrimDoc does not dispense, fulfill, or bill for medication directly — the pharmacy contacts you to arrange delivery and payment, separate from TrimDoc's consultation and membership fees.

The Role of Lifestyle Guidance

Providers typically recommend that any medication be paired with attention to nutrition, physical activity, and other health habits — medication is generally considered one part of a broader plan, not a stand-alone solution. Your care team can discuss what that looks like for your specific situation.

Long-Term Care

Medical weight loss with GLP-1 medication is generally approached as an ongoing, medically supervised process. How long care continues, and what it looks like over time, is an individual decision made between you and your provider based on your response and goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the whole process take, from booking to a decision?

It depends on appointment availability and your individual evaluation. Book through Vagaro to see current availability — there is no fixed timeline that applies to everyone.

Can I message my provider between visits?

Ongoing membership includes secure messaging with your care team for questions between scheduled visits.

What happens if my provider determines medication isn’t appropriate for me?

Your provider will explain their clinical reasoning. Booking a consultation is a request for evaluation, not a guarantee of any specific treatment.

Do I need to do anything between my consultation and my first follow-up?

Your care team will let you know what, if anything, is needed — this depends on your individual treatment plan.

Is the entire process really done through video calls?

Yes, TrimDoc care is delivered entirely through telehealth. Your provider will advise you if your situation requires in-person evaluation instead.
