This page describes how TrimDoc practices medicine across its telehealth services — the standards that apply regardless of which service line brings you in. It is educational information, not medical advice.
Who Provides Your Care
Every TrimDoc visit is conducted by a licensed physician or nurse practitioner, credentialed to practice in the state where you're located at the time of your visit. Your provider works under physician-led clinical protocols, whether you see a physician or a nurse practitioner for a given visit.
Evaluation Before Treatment
Every patient starts with a real clinical evaluation by a licensed provider — a conversation and health-history review, not an automatic questionnaire that outputs a prescription. Whether any treatment is appropriate is a clinical determination made after that evaluation, not before it. Booking a consultation is a request for evaluation, not a guarantee of a specific outcome.
Evidence-Based Prescribing
When medication is considered, providers weigh your health history, current medications, and prior treatment response against the known risks and contraindications for that medication class. This isn't a one-size-fits-all protocol — it's an individualized decision, and it can result in no prescription at all if that's the clinically appropriate outcome.
Contraindication Screening
Before considering GLP-1 medication such as semaglutide or tirzepatide, your provider screens for known contraindications — including a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN2), pregnancy or plans for pregnancy, breastfeeding, and a history of pancreatitis. Full, honest disclosure of your health history during your evaluation is what makes this screening effective.
Ongoing Monitoring, Not a One-Time Decision
Patients approved for treatment continue with follow-up visits so their provider can monitor response, review side effects, and adjust the plan as needed. Medical weight loss and hormone-related care are treated as ongoing, medically supervised processes — not a single appointment with no further oversight.
Telehealth With Real Limits
Telehealth allows a full clinical evaluation for most patients, but it has limitations. Providers are expected to recognize when a patient's situation requires in-person care instead, and to advise accordingly rather than force every case through a virtual visit.
Pharmacy Coordination
When a prescription is issued, it's sent electronically to a licensed pharmacy. TrimDoc does not dispense, fulfill, mark up, or bill for medication directly — the pharmacy contacts you to arrange fulfillment and payment, separately from TrimDoc's own consultation and membership fees.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does “physician-supervised” medical weight loss actually mean?
It means a licensed clinician evaluates you, decides what is appropriate, and stays responsible for your care over time. A questionnaire that returns a prescription is not clinical supervision. At TrimDoc, treatment decisions follow an individual evaluation of your health history, current medications, and goals.
What happens during the initial consultation?
A licensed provider reviews your weight-management history, current medications, relevant medical conditions, and what you are hoping to achieve. They discuss which approaches may be appropriate for you, including whether medication is a reasonable option. The initial consultation is $32.
Am I guaranteed a prescription if I book?
No. Booking a consultation gets you a clinical evaluation, not a prescription. Whether any medication — including a GLP-1 — is appropriate is a clinical decision made after that evaluation. Some patients are not candidates, and your provider will explain why if that applies to you.
How is eligibility determined?
Eligibility is assessed during your consultation rather than before it. Providers weigh a combination of factors, including your health history, other medications, and any contraindications. TrimDoc does not publish a single threshold, such as a BMI number, that guarantees eligibility.
Can medical weight-loss care really be delivered by telehealth?
Much of it can. Evaluation, treatment planning, and ongoing monitoring are conducted by video with a licensed provider. Telehealth also has genuine limits — anything requiring a hands-on examination, imaging, or acute management is referred to in-person care. Availability depends on provider licensure and your location at the time of your visit.
